Karbi Anglong: From Ancient Kingdoms to Modern Justice

In the heart of Assam, nestled amidst hills and forests, lies a land steeped in history and resilience: Karbi Anglong. This is a tale of its people and their enduring struggle for a journey towards justice.

The Rise of Sengya Tularam Senapati:

In the 19th century, the present-day Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts were part of the Dimasa Kingdom, ruled by King Krishna Chandra. It was here that a figure of immense courage and strategic brilliance emerged: Sengya Tularam Senapati. As the Chief General, his primary duty was to defend the kingdom from any external threat.
Following a period of internal strife and the demise of the last Kachari king, Gobinda Chandra, in 1830, Tularam Senapati rose to become the de facto ruler of the Kacharis. His dominion was vast, stretching across the South Naga Hills, the Mahur River, the West Doyang River, the East Dhansiri River, and the North Jamuna and Doyang. This territory, often referred to as "Tularam Senapati's Country," became the bastion of his defiance.
